Already waist deep into creating branding art and a project logo for Mitch, the next step was to get under way with package design. While I’m very familiar with the Jump Blues sound and scene, this package was different in that the client wanted to express his new territory. My early efforts in putting this together were a bit clumsy. I kept reaching for generic references and getting almost nowhere.
Finally I hit upon the tried and true idea of an old suitcase with stamps indicting it’s various travels. Of course these stamps provided the vernacular to show the specifics of the product inside. After swapping out some of the more traditional R&B images for images that were more pointed, we were able to move forward on the final art. Phew!
